Kent’s Story - Being diagnosed with prostate cancer

Kent came to be a patient at Lift after his Medical Oncologist told him that exercise was a non-negotiable as part of his treatment. In participating in exercise medicine at Lift, Kent was able to manage his fatigue as well as other side effects of his surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and hormone treatment.

In this short video, Kent reflects on how a variety of Lift services helped him to look past cancer.

“I was diagnosed with a rare prostate cancer which was also quite aggressive.”

“My chemotherapy oncologist made it extremely clear to me that exercise was not negotiable. He mentioned Lift to me, wrote me a referral, and I made contact with Lift and was shown through all of the facilities.”

“From my point of view, some of the benefits of the exercise that I've undertaken through Lift has certainly been treating the fatigue.”

“I also have used a dietician and that really just reinforced that the eating habits and so on should be controlled in certain areas. My wife and I also had sessions with the psychologist, which was very useful to help put things into perspective and look towards the future.”

“The staff are very professional and caring and that applies right through from management through to the reception staff.”

“The reason I'd recommend Lift to anyone else who's in this situation, is that you're mixing with people who are in similar situations.”
