Speech Therapy

Difficulty swallowing, problems chewing and voice or communication problems can be common issues to arise from cancer and its treatment. Such issues can be helped with the input of a Speech Therapist. If left undetected or untreated these problems can impact significantly on quality of life.

Who should see a Speech Therapist?

Speech Therapy can be useful for certain types of cancer. These include:

  • Head & Neck cancers

Referrals

You can come and see our Speech therapist with or without a referral. It is a good idea to visit your GP to discuss coming to a Speech Therapist and to find out if you are eligible for a Chronic Diseases Management Plan. This is a Medicare initiative and will allow you to receive a rebate at your appointments.
